CUSTOM PET PORTRAITS

Who It’s For

For people who are a little obsessed with their pets (in the best way). If your dog has a personality, your cat runs the house, or you just feel that your pet deserves a spot on the wall alongside the rest of the family — this is for you. It also makes a thoughtful, one-of-a-kind gift for the pet lover in your life.

How it works

Send a photo of your pet and I’ll turn it into a custom letterpress portrait, illustrated and printed by hand on beautiful cotton paper. Each piece is individually pressed, keepsake-quality print ready to frame and share with family members.

Why?

Our pets deserve more than spots in our camera rolls. A letterpress portrait captures their character in a tactile, timeless way. Have something you can hang on the wall, smile at every day, and keep long after the muddy paw prints fade.

What’s the cost?

Pet portraits are $475, a set of 100 notecards is $425. Please see the contact form for more info on additional copies.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • First, you will fill out a form and include several photos of your pet. I’ll send you an invoice for 50% of the total cost then get to work on your portrait. You will have a chance to approve the portrait before I start printing your portrait/stationery on press.

  • Due to the portrait drawing process and the nature of letterpress, please allow up to 8 weeks for your portrait.

  • I use 100% cotton tree-free paper. It’s very high quality and makes a beautiful impression with letterpress.

  • It’s up to you! What showcases your pet’s personality? I’m partial towards a classic sit pose because it looks so sweet as a portrait and on a white paper background. It’s a good idea to make sure your pet pose doesn’t include a background piece of furniture, otherwise they might look like they’re floating midair!

  • Unfortunately, no. The letterpress process is limited to a certain size based on the machine. I can do my best to maximize the space in the 5×7” printing area.

  • No, the print does not come framed, but they are printed on a standard size that makes framing very cost-effective. Please frame your piece with UV protected glass to best preserve the artwork.

  • Letterpress has been around for centuries and is a stamp printing process where where raised, inked surfaces—traditionally metal or wood type—are pressed directly into paper. There are many different types of presses! I print on a Chandler & Price Platen Press that’s over 100 years old.

  • The pricing includes two ink colors, three colors total if you include white (the paper). For example, if you have a white dog, I can outline your dog in a different color and allow white space to show through – see sample photos of the German Shorthaired Pointer at the bottom of this page!

  • Let’s talk! Each color requires a new press run and cleanup, so there is a $150 fee per extra color. I’d be happy to talk through your idea and see if we can make it happen.

  • Yes. 50% is due to order your portrait, and 50% will be due upon delivery.
